Solenoid

As an accessory of the Free-Fall Apparatus it produces an electromagnetic effect (using 1.5 volt dry cell passing through a coil) thereby holding the object to be dropped at a certain height, it can also be used in activities that require the use of electromagnet.

Pad switch

Landing platform for the ball as it is released from the solenoid and undergoes free-fall drop. Once the ball is dropped, the electronic counter (digital stopwatch) is activated; but when the ball hits

the pad switch, another electronic system operates

thereby shutting off the counting.

Synchrobox

The control box of the free-fall experiment set-up.  It contains the electronic system that produces the electromagnetic effect in the solenoid, the button that switches off the electromagnetism

in the solenoid thereby releasing the ball, and the N.C.

circuit that opens when the ball hits the pad switch.

Slide pointer

Used to mark the specific height of the ball measured from the surface of the pad switch.

Stopwatch

Measures the value of time to as low as 1/100 of a second. It is equipped with an RCA jacks attachment for use in the free-fall set-up. Experiments in measuring time and motion of objects

can also utilize this equipment.

Test spheres with case

Test materials for the validity of the universal law of acceleration due to gravity. the first type is made of steel of different sizes, while the second is made of plastic with a metal on one spot for contact with the solenoid. These balls may be applied also in activities that require varied values of mass.

Measuring tape

Specifies intervals of distances with the use of the slide pointer.
